Mold Guard is a Drain for Stud Cavities

Mold Guard (Patent # US 6,792,725 B1) is a product that helps control moisture within a stud cavity. When any kind of moisture finds its way into a typical stud cavity, Mold Guard gives it a place to drain. It also acts as a vent to allow airflow into a closed cavity, which can assist in the drying process. Mold Guard promotes air and moisture circulation within the stud cavity.

Many plumbing or roof leaks within a wall can go unnoticed for days and possibly weeks due to the moisture being trapped within the stud cavity. Since Mold Guard allows moisture to drain out, leaks may be discovered sooner.

Mold Guard does not prevent mold from happening, but it does assist in relieving much of the moisture that causes it within a stud cavity. All leaks or sources of moisture within a stud cavity or wall interior must be terminated. Mold Guard does not replace the need for proper inspection and replacement of water damaged walls, studs, or sheer panels. For pricing and ordering information click "Online Store" above.

Manufacturer's Specifications

Mold Guard (Patent # US 6,792,725 B1) is an automatic drainage system for any stud cavity and is created from a .0020± inch thick piece of vinyl. The small vent slots will allow water to drain from the stud cavity while also providing an air passage to assist in the drying process.

Sill Plate must be free of dust and debris before installation of Mold Guard. Place precut Mold Guard between vertical studs over the sill plate. Once Mold Guard is in place, fasten it to the sill plate with a staple on both ends. When installing Mold Guard with steel stud framing, insert the solid flange under the floor track. To prevent wicking a 1/4" gap is required between the sub floor and wall material. Mold Guard should only be installed on the interior side of the stud cavity.
